How to Use WhatColor
Welcome to WhatColor! This app is intended to assist with color blindness, and this guide will help you get started with identifying colors in your images.
Getting Started
Take a Photo or Load an Image:
- Tap the Take Photo button to use your device's camera.
- Tap the Load Image button to select an image from your gallery.
Identify a Color:
- Once an image is loaded, simply tap anywhere on the image. A crosshair will appear to show the exact point you've selected.
View Color Information:
- The RGB value, color family, and specific color name will be displayed at the top of the screen.
Advanced Features
Evaluation Tolerance: Open the side navigation drawer (swipe from the left or tap the menu icon) to access the Evaluation Tolerance slider. Adjusting this slider changes how closely a color needs to match the database to be identified. A lower percentage requires a stricter match.
Color Descriptions and Tolerance: The color description field only shows text when a color match is found within your tolerance setting. If you don't see a description, try increasing the tolerance value. At 100% tolerance, the app will display the closest match from our database of 175 colors. The default tolerance is 10%, which provides a balance between precision and variation.
Zoom and Pan:
- Use a two-finger pinch gesture to zoom in or out of the image.
- Once zoomed in, you can drag with one finger to pan around the image for precise color selection.
